Full Description

After Ford Figo, Fiesta is the second biggest hit for Ford in India. Classic is redesigned model of a Fiesta, because of the increasing demands for Fiesta even after the production stopped, Ford decided to rebadge it as Classic. Available with both petrol and diesel engine option, it has made the second largest volumes for Form. It is not a head turner as the latest fluidic Fiesta, but yes it is a traditionally maintained car with a lustre of classic looks. Ford has decided to place Fiesta Classic to an entry level sedan segment where there is less competition. The interiors are shared with Figo like the gear knobs, audio system, three spokes steering wheel and yes Ford’s usual odd way of placing hood releasing system on the left hand side of the car, not very convenient. The tilt adjustable steering makes you feel comfortable behind the wheels. Again the plastic quality is as same as the Figo’s, not that a sedan buyer would like. As far as the legroom concerned, Classic has good amount of leg room in the front and the rear is a little congested and even the thigh support is not the best. The cabin makes you feel homely better than a dzire however the sound from outside the car is clearly audible. And the build quality is the best in its segment compared to other cars like Honda Amaze, Indigo Manza and Swift dzire. As you all know that the Fiesta was known for its handling and was used for rallying most of the time. Classic is no different from Fiesta as far as the dynamics and handling concerned. The sharp turning radius and steering feedback defiantly makes it a sports adoptable car. The petrol engine is built on Duratec technology with a power of 101BHP @ 6500 rpm. Torque is 146Mn @ 3400rpm. And the Diesel engine is built on a Duratorq technology with power of 68 BHP @ 4000 rpm, torque 160 Nm @ 2000 rpm. Both the diesel and the petrol engines are mounted to a 5 speed gear box and the suspensions are Independent McPherson struts with offset coil spring. The car comes with a 14 inch rim with tubeless radials (175/65/14). Ford could have made the rear break also a disc operated rather than making it a drum. The ground clearance is far better than Tata Indigo eCS (165mm) compared to Ford Fiesta Classic (168mm) even that 3mm would make a lot of difference when the car runs over a pot hole or a hump. Boot space 430 liters which is pretty decent volume on a sedan.  At last Ford Fiesta classic is worth a buy provided u are not too bored of old looks. Handling is better than a Swift Dzire, whose 165 tire throws out the tail dangerously at high speeds. Turning radius is not that bad (4.9) compared to Tata Indigo eCS (5.0).  Toyota Etios is spacious than Classic, but the interiors on Etios are a big letdown.
